ASCENDING AND DESCENDING ORDER

Ascending Order

  • arranged from smallest to largest

  • increasing

  • is also used for putting words into alphabetical order, from A to Z

Descending Order​

  • arranged from largest to smallest

  • decreasing 

 

​Descending Order | Maths Concept For Kids | Grade 1 | Periwinkle 

Example:

Have students cut straws into 10 pieces. Let them arrange 5 of these pieces in ascending order. The other 5 need to be arranged in descending order. Tape or glue the straw pieces to the paper. Students then use a ruler to measure the length of each straw. Record the lengths under each straw.

Caterpillar Ordering

Caterpillar Ordering is an interactive ordering and sequencing numbers game, which would complement a mini beasts topic in the classroom.

The drag and drop activity help children to order numbers, beginning at a basic level and  progressing to more challenging exercises.
